International meeting on childhood and adoloscent obesity & diabetes 2022: treatment

Acquisizione competenze di processo:Childhood and adolescent obesity has a major impact on morbidity and long-term mortality worldwide. In most cases, obesity persists from adolescence to adulthood, is associated with high blood pressure, impaired glucose metabolism, dyslipidemia, and psychological distress. Available data report that awareness and concern about obesity is different in patients and their caregivers with implications for delaying consultation with the health care provider until the level of overweight is high or very high. Current evidence suggests that persistent outcomes with treatment are difficult to achieve and there is no doubt that more effective therapies are needed. therefore, this meeting is focused on presenting the most recent scientific data on three different hot topics of childhood and adolescent obesity: the diagnosis and the role of genetics, the most common metabolic disorders associated with obesity, and the latest news on treatment and motivation to care.
